Yes, spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait to go fishing. I just gotta start sharpening those hooks, making new leaders, clean and oil reels. I better wake up from hibernation, it has been a long one.
I use the RISAA New England Saltwater Fishing show to get me going. This year it is be on March 9th – 11th at the RI Convention Center in Providence RI. This is where I try and stock up on what I need and some things I don’t need. If you have never been this is the show that you do not want to miss.
This is the month the work parties start getting organized to get our properties ready for the upcoming season. So call the RIMS Hot Line (401-256 -5020) for any work party dates and updates. New members this is the time of year to get your required points for your probation.
With spring in the air comes the bird season. It feels like it’s going to be an early start to the warm weather and the plovers will start showing up to establish their nesting sites. We must always be aware of these birds. There will be updates on these birds throughout the season. You must abide by any restrictions that RIMS puts in place during this time. Before your tires touch the sand trail call the RIMS Hot Line (401-256-5020) for all of the latest updates. We have a lot of things to remember and be thankful for, but we also have the future to look forward to. We have many membership openings. If you know someone that shares our interests in fishing, boating, family & friends time together on the shore, consider sponsoring someone into the club. Talk up the benefits of RIMS, There are so many cool thing that you just don’t get with other organizations. Let’s grow the RIMS family so we can continue with our mission to help keep the shoreline open for fishing and family recreation.
I can’t wait to see you all on the beach this season.
