November 2018

Our annual beach cleanup was attended by twenty-seven people. We had good weather and a good time. After scouring the beaches we  accumulated 85 pounds of garbage. Good job! Many thanks to Brian Stanick for putting it all together.

The pot luck supper following the clean-up was well attended a With lots of good food, served and enjoyed by members. Thanks to Butch Taylor for making it happen.

Our next function is the snow fence installation on Saturday November 3rd 10:30am starting on lot 75. This year we want to keep the fence up 6 inches off the ground and perpendicular to the southwest winds. This will maximize sand collection. If you are a new member and you need points this is a good opportunity to get some. Make sure to call the info line for any changes. The picnic tables will be brought back to the clubhouse at this time.

It was a privilege to receive the fall Surf Fishing Club Challenge Trophy on behalf of RIMS. In the past I’ve seen Rich Taylor accept the trophy a few times and I was thankful we were able to do it again. The members who participated in the tournament made it possible. Being able to enter a fish in the tournament as well was icing on the cake. It was great to see all the club members that participated in the tournament this year. It shows what we can do when we work together as a team. A big thank you goes out to Bob Kardys and Butch Taylor for providing trophy’s commemorating the 25 years Steve Andras and Jim McKeough have been putting together the Surf Fishing Club Challenge. The fishing was nothing short of awesome. In addition to catching the biggest fish in the tournament Tim Carey was doing a lot of hard work for us older fishermen. When the water was crashing over the landing rock, he would scramble down there to help us land our fish more times than I can remember. We all owe him a big thank you.

Membership renewals are due Jan 01, 2019. We don’t want members to be late on renewal. It causes a lot of extra work for our chairperson who is a volunteer just like the rest of us.

Start thinking about who you want to nominate for humanitarian of the year, member of the year, and outstanding member of the year. The ballots will be arriving shortly.

See you on the beach,
Thank You, Erik Rogde President
