September 2018

Well, the birds have fledged, we no longer have to escort our vehicles across the over wash, and nighttime driving restrictions have been removed! Unfortunately this also means that summer is winding down and the days are getting shorter.

The good news is I’ve been told that lots of baitfish have been running along Quonny Beach during the day.

If my source is reliable, the end result will be some good fishing. Hopefully some lucky fisherman will be ready when the Bonita and False albacore race through our shores.

Saturday, September 15 is our annual beach cleanup in conjunction with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup and Save The Bay.

We will meet at the clubhouse at 8:00am to collect supplies and coordinate cleanup crews. Please consider participating in this exercise, it can be a lot of fun with enough people. You won’t believe the variety of garbage found on our shores.

Later on that same day we will have the pot luck supper on the beach starting at 4:00 PM. Clear your schedules for this day. Bring a dish you enjoy making and you’ll get to taste other masterpieces. Either way It’s a great time for all.

Remember 2019 Membership renewals will be due Jan 01,2019 It helps to get your renewal in early. Start thinking about it now! Don’t let it slip! We don’t want members to be late on renewal. It causes a lot of extra work for our Chairperson who is a volunteer just like the rest of us.

The last reminder is for the Fall fishing tournament. It will be on Oct 12, 13, 14. See if you can make it and help us get first place.

Thank You, Erik Rogde President
